Environmental management
A matter of attitude
Think globally, act locally
At ege, we work continuously to diminish our impact on nature.
We feel that protecting the environment is not merely a question of imposing demands on others, but a question of taking matters into one’s own hands. Therefore, we strive at reducing the environmental impact of our products.
Environmental Management System
Each carpet leaving one of our factories is approved in accordance with some of the most stringent European quality standards. We have implemented environmental management at our 3 factories. These systems are certified in accordance with the:
• ISO 14001 standard
• Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS)
These certification systems ensure that our environmental policies are carried out effectively.
ISO 14000
The ISO 14000 family of standards is primarily concerned with environmental management. Environmental management refers to an organisation’s structure for managing its processes or activities. ISO is a useful toolbox enabling ege to meet environmental challenges and to implement actions supportive to sustainable development.
EMAS
The EMAS registration contributes to a better and more systematic follow-up on all environmental activities at ege. Internal audits are carried out regularly and every 6th month, the environmental systems are audited by an external verificator, Bureau Veritas Certification.
EMAS is a management tool for companies and other organisations to evaluate, report and improve their environmental performance. It is awarded to companies which have implemented environmental management at a high level. Registered companies are demanded to continuously setting and carrying out new environmental objectives to achieve progressive environmental improvements.
